It is all systems go for a new home delivery pizza service with up to 25 jobs in Barrow.
After trying and failing for nearly 2 years, the famous Domino’s Pizza chain has finally found a business group that wants to take on the Barrow franchise.
Work will start on building a kitchen, delivery and takeaway counter unit within the next 2 months.
Jonathan Beaver, a director of site owners Dean Property, of Cheshire, said they had just been informed the franchise had been let.
He expected a Dominos Pizza kitchen and delivery centre to be built and open on land next to the Travelodge Hotel off Walney Road, within 6 months.
The name of the franchisee has not yet been released, but in earlier bids to find one Dominos said they would need to commit £230,000 to the project, including £70,000 cash.
Mr Beaver said: ‘They were struggling to find a franchisee prepared to put their money where their mouth was for Barrow, but I think people have woken up now and that it will trade very well.’
The site will have a takeaway counter but a lot of its sales will be home delivery using cars and motorcycles.
Mr Beaver said: ‘Domino’s have got a proven model which they have successfully rolled out all over the country.
‘It seems a successful formula.’
