A Singles Franchise That’s Not Just About Romance

Because her kids had the radio set to WLUP-FM 97.9 one weekday morning last June, the Oswego personal trainer happened to catch Jonathan Brandmeier’s interview with the owner of a new social club for singles in Chicago.

After checking out Meet Market Adventures‘ Web site and chatting on the phone with Chicago franchise owner Dorota Simpson, Rischl decided the organization - which coordinates travel and local events for singles - seemed like a good fit.

It especially appealed to her because it wasn’t as romance-focused as other services for the presently unattached. It offered lots of fun activities. And it didn’t cost anything to join.

‘Their philosophy is pay as you play,’ said Rischl, 45. ‘With (other offerings for singles), you’re sitting there trying to be entertained, trying to meet people … With this, you’re never disappointed or bored. There’s stuff to do.’ Continue reading.
