Kuala Lumpur: Perbadanan Nasional Bhd (PNS) aims to increase its allocation to RM60 million next year to help entrepreneurs set up franchised business.
Managing director, Rusdi Ibrahim, said to date, PNS has provided RM23 million in financing to 138 borrowers.
“Based on the current momentum, we plan to approve 200 applications in 2008,” he told reporters after the launch of its reality television show, Franchise@PNS, here Thursday.
He said PNS would approve the applications within 14 days and interest would be between four and six percent.
Rusdi said the number of entrepreneurs interested to venture into franchise business has increased.
“Over 6,000 entrepreneurs participated in our seminars on franchising,” he said, adding that most of them realised the potential of the business which was flourishing and well-accepted.
He said PNS’ main focus now was on the food and beverage, telecommunications and service sectors.
On its reality TV show, Rusdi said the programme would show how franchisees compete to accomplish the tasks given such as managing promotion, marketing and management.
He said the 13-episode programme would be aired on RTM 1 starting next month.
Earlier, Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, said the programme would help the government achieve its target of creating 1,000 franchisees and 50 franchisors under the Nine Malaysia Plan.
