Global Fitness Holdings, the franchisee behind the region’s Gold’s Gym health clubs, is parting ways with the iconic brand and launching its own line of fitness centers.
As part of the effort, the group is planning a $65 million development in Kenwood that will tout its new fitness center, Urban Active, as the anchor tenant.
Beginning Dec. 1, the 25 Gold’s Gyms under Global Fitness Holding in Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee will be renamed to Urban Active. The company also is planning to expand outside of its 3-state footprint to open another 50 gyms in the next 4 years, said Royce Pulliam, CEO of the Lexington-based firm.
‘Our company is a very young company, and we’re looking to grow, but honestly, we’re running out of Class A real estate in the Kentucky, Tennessee and Ohio areas,’ Pulliam said. Read more.
