A new industry report from foodservice consultants Technomic Information Services provides detailed reporting and analysis of the 200 largest restaurant franchise organizations.

Pizza Hut, Burger King and Applebee’s are a few of the brands that have thrived from franchising, according to the report. Additionally, several companies within the last year were taken over by private equity and hedge fund investors, including the largest Pizza Hut franchisee — NPC International Inc., by Merrill-Lynch Global Private Equity Group.
