A new franchise business set to roll out across Australia promises to match franchisees with suitable franchisors.
But a franchisee industry body warns potential business owners not to get lulled into a false sense of security.
FranchiseMart, a US business, is launching its first Australian store in Sydney’s northern suburb of Crows Nest.
Local member Joe Hockey, Minister for employment and workplace relations, will launch the business venture, which has been brought to Australia by managing director Gareth Grant and general manager Justin Kirkland.
With over 900 franchise businesses in Australia to choose from, Grant says FranchiseMart will help franchise buyers and sellers find the most suitable match.
‘In Australia the problem people have is total confusion when trying to decide which business is right for them,’ Grant says.
‘When people go into a franchise it’s a very emotional decision and they don’t take their time. They rush into it or they may only see 1 or 2 companies and they don’t really understand the variety or how the speak to them all.’
FranchiseMart offers a video-store style browsing area, dividing franchises into different sectors. Read more.

A last ditch effort to add more brokers to the mix, this time with a storefront. The FastSigns folks are going to open a few in the US. My prediction:
10-20 will sell here, and 3 years from now, they will be all gone. Too tacky to believe.
