Pizza Hut franchisee NPC International Inc. recorded a profit for the third quarter despite increasing ingredient costs.
The Pizza Hut franchisee reported earnings of $1.9 million for the quarter that ended Sept. 25, compared with a loss of $2.4 million in the third quarter of 2006.
The change resulted from higher sales and better margins, a $2.9 million decrease in depreciation and amortization, and decreased interest expenses because of lower average borrowings compared with 2006, the Overland Park-based company said in release Wednesday.
Revenue for the quarter was $173.3 million, up 17% from $148 million during the third quarter 2006.
