The Halifax Group completed a management-led buyout of Birmingham-based PJ United Inc., the largest franchisee of Papa John’s stores, offering a launching pad for the pizza chain’s expansion.
Halifax and PJ United’s Founder and CEO Douglas S. Stephens bought the company’s Papa John’s stores, while former controlling shareholders in the company liquidated their assets.
PJ United operates 116 Papa John’s pizza stores in six states and will continue to be led by its current management team. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
