One of the UK’s biggest shopping centre cafe operators is eyeing a move to the Capital as it plans a major expansion.phil-abbott.jpg

BB’s Coffee and Muffins launched in 1997 and has quickly grown into a franchising giant, with 170 stores across the UK and Ireland.

The group, which already has ten stores in Scotland, has so far not opened any premises in Edinburgh. But it has targeted the city, which is ‘highest on the list’ of places it can move to.

The expansion of the St James Centre is expected to bring retail opportunities, and BB’s sees it as a potential new site.

It will also be scouring retail parks and out-of-town shopping centres to see if there are any options for new branches.

It is also piloting a mobile van franchise in Nottingham and, if it is judged a success, it could look for sites for a coffee van in the Capital.
