At Sir Speedy of Joliet, Claire Poll stands by a poster made up of large sunset and beach photographs. The horizon reds and sky blues, the intricate sea details, all carry over well, even though the images have been enlarged to 18-by-24-inch prints or larger.
The original photographs were taken with a 3.2-megapixel digital camera. Then Sir Speedy enlarged the images to poster size, keeping a high degree of quality.
‘We mounted it, laminated it, put an edge around it,’ Claire said of the poster, an example of what new technology can do as Sir Speedy celebrates its 27th year in the printing business in Joliet.
David and Claire Poll began their business on Nov. 26, 1980, on West Jefferson Street.
They moved to their current location, 2225-A W. Jefferson St., in January 1983.
