Ionia residents looking to get a haircut now have a new option to consider beginning this Friday, as a new hair salon – Great Clips Salon – has come to town.

‘We’re anxious and very hopeful,’ Great Clips franchisee Jerry Holmes said.

The sixth Great Clips Jerry and his wife Linda have opened, he said the location of the new salon is good because since it is near Wal-Mart and the new Menards, it is in an area where people are coming to shop.

The salon is located at the Market Square Plaza shopping center on the southwest corner of Sprague Road and M-66 and offers haircuts at an affordable price.

The salon will have a soft opening on Friday, and then on Saturday morning there will be a grand opening celebration.

Ionia Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tina Conner-Wellman said the chamber will be at the grand opening along with chamber ambassadors, and they will use the big scissors for the official ribbon-cutting.

‘We’re happy to have any new business join us,’ she said.

The salon will celebrate its grand opening through Jan. 5 by offering haircuts for $3.99 so people can come try their service.
