Outer Banks Sentinel:

The Brew Thru chain, which originated on the Outer Banks in 1977, sold its first franchise to a resident of Tybee Island in Georgia on Dec. 3.

On Monday, John Childers, the franchisee, met with Brew Thru owner Philip Foreman, Michelle Pruitt, general manager of Brew Thru, and Paul Samson, franchise sales associate, to sign the final papers at the Brew Thru store located across from Jockey’s Ridge State Park.

Dana and Becky Lawrentz, Foreman’s parents-in-law, began the business in 1977. Since then, the company had grown to 5 locations along the Outer Banks including one walk-in outlet store in Kill Devil Hills. In 2002, Philip and his wife Brandy bought the business from her parents.
