At ChipsAway every paint is green! – Lloyd Evans, CEO of ChipsAway Group

The environmental impact of repairing automotive paintwork has long been an important consideration for the industry and in January 2008 important changes previously introduced by the EU Paint Products Directive become fully effective. As the leading brand in the SMART (Small to Medium Area Repair Technology) sector, ChipsAway International has responded with the introduction of a new, more eco-friendly Waterborne Paint System, which reduces environmental impact, while delivering the same high quality repairs.
The EU Paint Products Directive aims to limit emissions of harmful VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), by controlling the level of solvents in paint products used in the vehicle repair market. The first part of the Directive stated that all products manufactured after 1st January 2007 must meet stringent new VOC limits for solvents, although products manufactured before that date could be sold for 12 months afterwards. However, from 1st January 2008 all new vehicle repair paint products sold must comply with the new legislation.
