Patrick Corcoran is looking for a couple of thousand people unsatisfied with their gyms. And if they like working out at 3 a.m., that’s OK.
Corcoran recently left his job teaching fifth-graders in Hernando County to open his own franchise of Anytime Fitness, a 24-hour workout chain headquartered in Minnesota.
‘I loved the kids, but I wanted something new,’ said Corcoran, 34, a former center for the University of Colorado football team.
He plans to open his new business in the expansion of Northwoods Shopping Center now under construction at the northwest corner of County Line Road and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard.
Corcoran has staked his claim to slightly more than 4,000 square feet in the miniplaza.
With construction crews still fleshing out the retail spaces, Corcoran has set up shop under an umbrella in a corner of the shopping center’s parking lot. There, he signs up customers for his future gym, which should open early next year.
‘I’ve signed up nurses and other people who just have odd hours,’ Corcoran said. More.
