Johnny Carino’s At Power Plant Is Closed

The restaurant franchise company that ran the Johnny Carino’s Country Italian Restaurant on Power Plant Parkway closed the Hampton location Monday.

The move appears to be related to a larger change by Raleigh-based Apple Gold Group, which has been a franchisee for the Johnny Carino’s and Applebee’s chains. Apple Gold opened the Hampton location in the Power Plant in November 2004 as part of a deal to open Carino’s sites in Virginia and the Carolinas.

But Apple Gold, which didn’t return calls for comment, no longer lists any Johnny Carino’s locations on its Web site and appears to only be a franchisee for Applebee’s now. Read more.
