Secret Recipe Cakes and Cafe Sdn Bhd plans to establish Secret Recipe outlets in Vietnam, India and the Middle East this year.

This was part of an ambitious global expansion plan that would see the café chain having 100 international outlets and 200 domestic outlets within the next two years, said chief executive officer and managing director Datuk Steven Sim.

Currently, it has 40 international and 140 domestic outlets. Overseas markets are Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, China, the Philippines and Pakistan.

Sim said the secret to Secret Recipe’s success was its willingness to incorporate the popular dishes of neighbouring countries besides its signature pastry and cakes.

Affordability was also another factor and it now had 40 to 50 firms or entrepreneurs among those keen to join its franchise business, Sim said.
