Franchise Opportunities Await Malaysian Firms At Taiwan Show

To help local retailers and franchisors in finding new opportunities, the Malaysian Retailer-Chains Association (MRCA) is organising a group visit the Ninth Taipei International Chain and Franchise Exhibition from Feb 21 to 26 in Taiwan.

MRCA president Albert Chiang said the event will provide a good business platform for Malaysian companies, offering new franchise opportunities, especially in the food and beverage sector.

“We want them to study the business models of well-established Taiwanese companies and explore business opportunities there,” he said at a media conference on the event here Wednesday.

According to him, about 50 members have expressed interest in the exhibition, which is the largest of its kind in Asia, attracting most of Taiwan’s leading franchisors as well as companies keen to invest in new businesses.

MRCA has 95 members operating 3,500 outlets locally and overseas, including Bangladesh, Brunei, China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Vietnam.

The association generated a sales turnover about RM3.2 billion in 2006 and provided more than 15,000 jobs.
