Midas, Inc. said Tuesday that it signed a a franchise agreement under which the Itasca based auto-repair chain will allow a Costa Rican Toyota distributor to build and operate Midas shops in the Central American nation.
The accord is with Talleros Rapidos de Centramericanos TRC, S.A., which is a subsidiary of Purdy Motor S.A., Midas said.
Talleros, based in the capital city of San Jose, currently employs about 500 people in Costa Rica, at a dozen sales outlets and distribution centers.Under the agreement with Midas, the company will initially build five Midas branded muffler and brake repair shops, with the first outlet in San Jose expected to open later this year.
