Donatos Pizza franchisee Don Johnson learned from his mother that nothing worthwhile ever comes easy.
Johnson got firsthand evidence of that adage before he opened his newest Donatos along Aero Drive at Western Row and Tylersville roads.
He said he had been trying to build the restaurant for the last 3 years but could not because the developer of the strip shopping center where the eatery is delayed the development.
Johnson invested about $450,000 to finally open the 2,300-square-foot eatery in January, the longest it has taken him to open a restaurant since becoming a Donatos franchisee 16 years ago.
‘It’s fantastic and a big relief,’ Johnson said.
‘It was a long, long process to get the store going.’
Johnson, 50, said his latest Donatos - he also owns stores in Milford, Blue Ash and Symmes Township - will be a ‘cutting edge’ prototype for future locations.
He said it will include a more modern look than Donatos stores built in the 1990s, an open kitchen and new logo.
