Hot cross buns are selling like hot cakes, forcing bakers to ramp up production so they don’t run out on their biggest trading day today.
Demand was so high at Brumby’s Edge Hill yesterday, buns sold out by lunch time as shoppers stocked up for office morning teas and family outings over the long weekend.
‘People were coming in and buying 5 6-packs at a time,’ said franchisee Jason Sterling, who was planning to work 3 bakers on 10-hour shifts last night to make enough buns to fill all the new orders.
