Fitness is a hot trend for sure.
Still, it’s a little surprising that Gold’s Gym, which started in Venice, Calif., in 1965, has announced plans to build not 1 but 2 gyms in Billings.
Details about locations and construction schedules were not immediately available.
Billings has seen a boom in fitness centers recently, from the major remodeling of the Billings Athletic Club to the additions of Powerhouse Gym, One Fitness, Granite Health & Fitness and several locations for Anytime Fitness. Even that may not be a complete list.
Gold’s Gym started franchising in 1980 and has expanded to 42 states and 27 countries. This gym was featured in the 1977 movie ‘Pumping Iron.’
The company runs three gyms in Montana. National expansion plans call for adding 200 more gyms through 2010. If those plans are met, Gold’s Gym will have more than 650 facilities.
