Business to Business:

The Franchise Association of New Zealand will soon release key advice about franching in several languages to help non-English speaking New Zealand residents understand franchise offers more fully.

Peter Fergusson, CEO of the Franchise Association, says the initiative forms part of the Association’s response to issues which have recently arisen around franchises involving immigrants.

‘We have special concern for those people who have not been made aware of the advantages of seeking out and obtaining good advice,’ he said.

‘Our board resolved to make this advice freely available to people whose English might otherwise leave them unable to understand what questions to ask and where to get advice,’ said Mr Fergusson.

The association has commissioned Simon Lord, publisher of Franchise New Zealand, the country’s only dedicated franchise magazine, to write the guidelines.

The Department of Internal Affairs translation team has been commissioned to produce them in 2 Chinese dialects as well as Korean and Hindi. Mr Fergusson says the translations are expected to be completed before the end of the month.

The guidelines will be posted permanently on the Franchise Association website and distributed to appropriate ethnic news media in New Zealand.
