A fast-food chain winging its way, with franchisees using spreadsheets and email, allocated a group budget of about $375,000 for a SybizVision point-of-sale system, as suitable cash registers became rare as hens’ teeth.
Alberto Dei Giucici, national franchise manager of Chooks Fresh and Tasty, says having each franchisee entering sales information into a spreadsheet was not only time-consuming but had franchisor staff working like headless chooks.
Dei Giucici says the problem became noticeable after the 15th store opened about 2 years ago.
Now there are 26 outlets and the franchise is spreading its wings from Western Australia into Queensland, Victoria and Tasmania, with a goal of establishing 200 outlets over the next 5 years.
‘It costs the franchisee three times as much as a cash register,’ Dei Giucici says. ‘But now half an hour will do the job per week for each store.’ Read more.
