Boddie-Noell is testing a kiosk in its store at 3525 Sunset Ave. and at 2 other restaurants in Richmond, Va. Each of the stores has 2 machines that accept cash, credit cards, debit cards and gift cards for payment.

‘We think this kiosk has a lot of potential because it provides another approach to speed of service, accuracy of the order and overall convenience for those diners who choose to use it,’ said Mike Boddie, president of Boddie-Noell’s restaurant division.

The kiosks are part of a test for franchise operator Boddie-Noell to determine whether customer service improves, said Jerry Allsbrook, senior vice president of marketing for Boddie-Noell. The company is the largest Hardee’s franchisee in the United States.

‘It is really all about speed of service, ordering accurately and giving customers another way to get their order quicker,’ Allsbrook said.

Rocky Mount-based Boddie-Noell operates 346 restaurants in the Carolinas, Virginia and Kentucky.

‘In our business it is all about speed of service and convenience and shorter lines, and that is really what the kiosk does for us,’ Allsbrook said.
