The International Franchise Association is planning a day-long seminar in Cincinnati so prospective small-business owners can learn about the financial, legal and operating skills needed to run a franchise.
The May 1 event will be hosted by the Cincinnati-Hamilton County Community Action Agency and sponsored by the Greater Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky African American Chamber of Commerce and IFA, a Washington, D.C.-based trade group.
“We did a study in 2006 looking at ways to promote franchises in minority communities,” said Miriam Brewer, director of diversity for the IFA’s educational foundation. “We found three gaps preventing franchise development: information, relationships and access to capital. These seminars try to address those three gaps.”
