Listed franchise developer Allied Brands Ltd will extend its gift shop chain, Kenny’s Cardiology, to New Zealand, opening its first outlet there from July 1.
The franchise operator plans to have at least six Kenny’s Cardiology outlets trading by Christmas and as many as 30 stores in New Zealand within three years.
The card and gift chain openings will precede the expansion of Allied Brands’ Cookie Man and Awesome Water franchises into New Zealand in the second half of 2008.
Allied Brands currently has 38 Kenny’s Cardiology shops in Australia, as well as 82 Baskin-Robbins stores, 56 Cookie Man franchisees and the same number of Awesome Water outlets in Australia.
Allied Brands edged one cent higher to 44 cents on Thursday.

Kiwis be warned! This Aussie company Allied Brands has lots of complaints and lawsuites against it from disgruntled franchisees. They are engaged in practises against NZ Franchise Law but like the other Aussie franchisors it’s unlikely to stop them. Besides we’ve got plenty of our own card and gift shops and don’t need to send any more to these blokes.
