3 Bonita Restaurants Close

Rib City, Cilantro Tamales and Quizno’s have said goodbye to a Bonita Springs shopping center.

Fort Myers-based Rib City closed its doors Sunday in the shopping center that houses a movie theater and Stein Mart, about a quarter-mile south of the northern intersection of U.S. 41 and Old 41 Road.

The downturn in the economy and the influx of new restaurants at the 2 new south Lee County malls, Coconut Point and Gulf Coast Town Center, pushed the company to close the Bonita Springs location, said Micki Carlson, a spokeswoman for Rib City.

‘There are too many restaurants in the Bonita area competing for too few dollars in this weak economic atmosphere,’ Carlson said.
