Ask Michelda Johnson about her Edible Arrangements store, and she’ll tell you how excited she is to have the retailer’s first franchise in Alabama and how impressed she was with the company’s business plan.
But if you really want to see her face light up, ask her about leadership training, her other career.
Johnson, 37, owns the Edible Arrangements store on University Drive. She also owns Innovative Consulting, a management consulting firm.
She opened the 1,100-square-foot Edible Arrangements in October after conducting research on a number of franchises. Connecticut-based Edible Arrangements makes and sells fresh fruit baskets and gift bouquets.
She said her background in management training helped her recognize the franchiser’s production processes’ “creative effectiveness.”
