Ask Michelda Johnson about her Edible Arrangements store, and she’ll tell you how excited she is to have the retailer’s first franchise in Alabama and how impressed she was with the company’s business plan.
But if you really want to see her face light up, ask her about leadership training, her other career.
Johnson, 37, owns the Edible Arrangements store on University Drive. She also owns Innovative Consulting, a management consulting firm.
In that role, she’s on a mission to help employers develop a workplace culture that will energize employees to give 100 percent and uphold ethical values.
“Surveys show 50 percent of employees are not engaged; they don’t bring their whole selves into the workplace,” Johnson said. “It’s not about money, it’s about communication and helping employees to achieve balance in their lives.”
