Malaysian Franchise Association:

Homegrown doughnut maker Big Apple is rolling its way to Thailand, Brunei, China and the Middle East.

Franchisor Big Apple Inter Asia Sdn Bhd director Mike Chan said its Bangkok outlet would open by October while the Middle East outlet was expected to begin operations by year-end.

Like most of its local outlets, the overseas business would be operated via franchise programme, he said.

“Big Apple has enjoyed tremendous success since it was introduced at The Curve in Damansara last year,” he told StarBiz after the opening of the 16th Big Apple outlet at Kinta City here recently.

Warna Efektif Sdn Bhd holds the Big Apple franchise in Perak.

On the local front, Chan said the company was aiming for 30 Big Apple outlets by June next year. “We plan to have at least one outlet in each state,” he said.

Its Alor Star outlet opened last Thursday. This will be followed by outlets in Johor Baru and Penang in July and August respectively.
