The company, founded in Kansas, operates assisted-living facilities in 7 Kansas cities. It opened up to franchising last fall to expand its concept of small, home-like sites.

County Place’s first franchise will be in Scandia and the company will hold a groundbreaking ceremony there at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Occupancy rates for Country Place’s home-plus building - an eight-bedroom house - is 100%, officials said.

Much of the company staff and training is based in Wichita.
