A vacant lot in West Carrollton, near El Meson restaurant, is joining the ranks of new Sonics opening in the area. The franchising company closed on the land in late June. It marks the 11th local Sonic in the works.

The drive-up burger-and-milk shake joint is going in at the site of the former Woody’s Market on E. Dixie Drive. The West Carrollton location will cost more than $1.2 million to build and is scheduled to open in early 2009.

Rick Fee, director of operations for Bowling Green, Ky.-based Houchins, which owns the Dayton franchises, said Sonic’s sixth location opened June 19 in Celina and there are four other locations scheduled to open before the West Carrollton restaurant.
