Television viewers all across the Midwest will have an opportunity to learn about Prairie du Sac’s role in ice cream history through the Culver’s Franchise, as well as the Blue Spoon Café’s unique take on the cold dessert this weekend.
The Discover Wisconsin Television program will air its “America’s Dairyland - We all Scream for Ice Cream” program a second time June 28. The broadcast will examine the history of ice cream in Wisconsin, plus look at more recent takes on the dessert such as Prairie du Sac-based Culver’s Franchising Systems’ use of custard and the franchise’s off-spin Blue Spoon Cafe’s gelato selection.
Blue Spoon Director of Operations Mike Boss is featured in the program and said the show’s director was interested in explaining what gelato is.“It’s an Italian-style ice cream,” he said. “It’s lower in butter fat than American ice cream.”
Gelato also is more dense than traditional ice cream because less air is allowed into the mixture during its creation.

sounds yummy to me, less butter fat than the usual ice creams.. makes it good for those who were body conscious.
