Southeast Franchising Efforts Spur Investor Excitement; Einstein Bros. Bagels Opens Additional U.S. Territories.
Einstein Noah Restaurant Group, a leader in the quick-casual segment of the restaurant industry, announced today that it is opening new franchise territories nationwide, expanding the growth plans for its flagship brand, Einstein Bros. (R) Bagels. This strategic decision comes on the heels of the brand’s initial franchise plan which focused primarily on the Southeastern region of the United States.
“Once word got out that our concept was franchising in the Southeast, the response from experienced restaurant operators and investors from all around the country was extremely positive,” said Kevin Kruse, Vice President of Franchise Development for Einstein Noah Restaurant Group. “Now, with our course mapped out for national expansion, we are excited about the growth of this unique brand and look forward to an increased presence nationwide.”
With more than 320 company-owned restaurants and 100-plus licensed locations, Einstein Bros. has built a strong presence and loyal following in select U.S. markets. Moving forward, the new franchise strategy calls for additional locations in cities and counties nearby existing company-owned restaurants primarily in the Midwest, New England, East Coast and Southern United States.
“Einstein Bros. is a neighborhood brand that has built a good name around the country with a strong presence of company-owned restaurants, along with licensed outlets primarily in campus locations,” Kruse added. “We believe that our guests feel at home when they visit our restaurants. We cannot wait to share that experience and great food with a greater number of guests around the country.”

I am the Building Services Director for the KU Memorial Unions and we have a student union at the Edwards Campus in Overland Park, Kansas. The Jayhawk Central Student Union is at 125th Street and Quivira Road on the northeast corner of campus. The building address is: Jayhawk Central, 12520 Quivira, Overland Park, Kansas 66213. We occupy the upper level of a two story building that has 10,000 sq. ft. per level. I’ve attached an information sheet for your review. We have tried to lease a coffeehouse operation to two vendors with limited success but feel that we need more than just coffee and when we saw your article it seemed to be the fit we were in hopes of getting for our location. We currently have our KU Bookstores at the center of the space and lease space at the north to a Sarpino’s Italian Restaurant, which primarily does delivery of Italian foods and has a small dining area. The commons area of the coffeehouse serves as an open area for customer use. Sarpino’s leases their space at $17.00 per sq. ft. and this is the lease we would look for. I’ve attached two floor plans showing the general layout of spaces. The current coffee house has the following square feet of space available:
Coffee Bar 156 sq. ft.
Service Area 533 sq. ft.
Storage Area 90 sq. ft.
Commons Seating 1,470 sq. ft.
Total 2,249 sq. ft.
We would be very interested in your consideration of our location for one of your Einsteins Bagel locations for the Kansas City area. Please contact me by e-mail or phone numbers listed. We have an RFI we would like to share if you are interested. Thanks Pat
