El Paso Times:

Clara Khoury’s new career as owner of El Paso’s first Edible Arrangements franchise began as a quest to buy her husband, Tony, a unique Father’s Day gift last year.

While traveling on an airplane, Khoury saw a magazine ad for Edible Arrangements, a Connecticut franchising company that specializes in fresh-fruit bouquets that are modeled after flower arrangements.

Khoury, who was a schoolteacher at the time, thought it would make a perfect gift for her businessman husband.

She soon discovered that El Paso did not have an Edible Arrangements franchise, but that franchises were available.

The Khourys decided to invest in the company and opened their first El Paso store Tuesday at 1491 Lee Treviño, Suite E, in the Treviño Pointe shopping center between Pellicano and Vista Del Sol.

“And (Tony’s) still waiting for his fruit bouquet,” Clara Khoury joked.

The 1,400-square-foot store employs nine people, and the couple plans to open at least two more El Paso stores, one on the West Side and another in the Northeast.
