A group of Quiznos franchise holders in southwestern Pennsylvania is suing the Colorado-based sandwich chain, saying it promotes “grossly inflated” company profits at their expense.
The company’s general counsel said the federal lawsuit filed in Pittsburgh is a copycat action of one recently dismissed by a federal judge in Illinois. He said the suits contain allegations that have nothing to do with how the company operates now.
The Pittsburgh-area franchise owners said the company oversaturates areas with Quiznos restaurants, many of which fail as a result. The company also forces franchise owners to deal with suppliers connected to Quiznos, who charge high prices and cause the stores to lose money, among other complaints.
Quiznos has about 5,000 U.S. stores and 130 in Pennsylvania.
