Frequent breakfast diners at the 1 S. Kerr Ave. Hardee’s might not know it, but they’re eating the biscuits of a champion.
Silvia Ledesma recently won the 2008 Biscuit Challenge sponsored by Hardee’s franchisee Boddie-Noell Enterprises, a Rocky Mount company that owns more than 340 Hardee’s restaurants in the Carolinas, Virginia and Kentucky. Ledesma has worked at the Hardee’s location at Market Street and Kerr Avenue for six years, coming in at 4:30 a.m. most days to start the biscuit-baking process.
“I make them with love,” she said Tuesday. “I couldn’t believe I won… They had to call my name twice because I couldn’t believe they called my name the first time. I cried when I won.”
The competition began in January, and each contestant had to advance through a local, district and regional level of biscuit-making competition. Read more.
