Ron King, owner of the soon-to-be-opened Kruize ‘N’ Burger at 104 N. Adams Rd., said he is making a big career change. “Up to now I’ve always been a paper pusher,” King, a certified public accountant, said. “Now I’m going to be a burger pusher.”
The new restaurant is housed in the former Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant and will have what Kings calls a relaxed California beach atmosphere, with a surfing theme.
“I want to put the fun back into fast food,” he said.
“We’re going to have milk shakes with real ice cream. You can watch us make them right behind the counter.”
King said his restaurant will focus on quality ingredients and freshness. The meat will be Angus beef, never frozen, and the fries will be fresh cut,” he said. “The condiments will be fresh, homemade, or the best quality we can buy.”
The restaurant will eventually bake its own buns on-site, he said.
Even with the emphasis on quality, “the prices will be reasonable,” he said.
The inside will flex a bleach theme and will also plenty of seating and a plasma television and will be “staffed by friendly people,” he said.
The manager is Paul Shreffler, a 1976 Charles Page High School graduate.
King’s wife, Terri, has been a first grade teacher at Anderson School for 30 years.
