The SUBWAY(R) restaurant chain, the world’s largest submarine sandwich franchise, is proud to announce that it has named Markku Jyrkiainen, of Vaasa, Finland, as the recipient of its 2008 Franchisee of the Year award for single unit owners from the chain’s international developed markets, during the company’s recent convention in Las Vegas.
As a SUBWAY(R) Franchisee of the Year, Jyrkiainen is honored for his accomplishments in building sales and increasing profitability while also achieving excellent store evaluations. He was selected from among the chain’s more than 3,300 international franchisees.
“I am extremely proud as we are a family run business,” says Jyrkiainen. “Being named Franchisee of the Year is a prestigious honor, especially when considering the number of excellent candidates that were being considered.”
Attracted by the chain’s reputation of offering a healthier alternative to traditionally fatty fast food and believing this to be the beginning of a trend in Finland, Jyrkiainen first became a SUBWAY(R) franchisee in December of 2005.
