Jacksonville Business Journal:
A new McDonald’s has started construction on the site where a Boston Market restaurant was torn down last weekend.
McDonald’s Corp. franchisee Bud Kuthan, who operates seven locations in the beaches and Northern St. Johns County area, will operate the restaurant, which is expected to open on A1A near J. Turner Butler Boulevard later this year.
Although the 3,600-square-foot restaurant will be slightly smaller than the standard sized McDonald’s, it will include a McCafe with gourmet coffees, smoothies and bottled drinks.
The Boston Market that was on the site closed about a month prior to the building’s demolition. Kuthan said McDonald’s, which used to own Boston Market Corp., owned the land under the building and will pay for the construction of the new building.
A representative of Boston Market was not available by press time.
