The SUBWAY restaurant chain, the world’s largest submarine sandwich franchise, is proud to announce that it has named Lyudmila Khononov of Brooklyn, NY, as the recipient of its 2008 Franchisee of the Year award for multi-unit owners from the chain’s North American markets, during the company’s recent convention in Las Vegas.
As a SUBWAY Franchisee of the Year, Khononov is honored for her accomplishments in adding stores, building sales and increasing profitability while also achieving excellent store evaluations. She was selected from among the chain’s more than 12,200 franchisees from across the U.S. and Canada.
“Emigrating from the former Soviet Union, where opportunities were limited, I came to this country with the drive and motivation to succeed and was ready to face the obstacles and hurdles that came along with running my own business. Being named Franchisee of the Year is an honor, especially when considering the number of excellent candidates that were also considered,” says Khononov. “I share this honor with my store managers, who help me make sure that all aspects of the business are in order, including store cleanliness, customer service and ultimately improved sales.”
Khononov first became a SUBWAY franchisee in 2001. She presently owns and operates four locations in Brooklyn, has two new restaurants under construction and plans to expand her business to 10 SUBWAY restaurants by 2010.
