Chattanooga-based Five Star Food Service, with a branch in Dalton at 1280 Veterans Drive, has signed an agreement to become a franchise of Canteen Vending Services, headquartered in Charlotte, N.C.
The Dalton location is one of Five Star Food Service’s 26 branches.A spokeswoman with Canteen Vending Services was unable to provide any information about the effect on the Dalton branch Tuesday afternoon. A phone call to Five Star Food Service’s corporate office was not immediately returned.
Five Star Food Service will continue to operate out of its Chattanooga headquarters. The company has acquired three Dalton vending companies over the years, including AA Food Services (1993), S&D Coffee (1999) and Aramark (2001).
Five Star Food Service is the fourth largest full-line vending, coffee service and food service provider in the U.S. with accounts in eight Southern states. In 2007, Five Star Food Service had 1,300 employees and more than $140 million in revenue, according to the company’s Web site (www.fivestar-food.com).
