About 500 hundred people showed up Tuesday at an office trailer for the new Sonic Drive-In, to apply for one of 140 positions at the fast-food spot.
Tuesday was the first day applications were handed out. More than 300 people were already in line by 9 a.m. when the doors opened.
“We weren’t surprised,” said Martha Sanford, director of marketing for Miller-Apple L.P., the Sonic franchisee. “A lot of people need jobs out here.”
Sonic is expected to open in mid-October, making it the second Michigan location. The other is in Southgate.
