Fourth Street Live’s new comedy club takes the dreaded dilemma out of a night out — do you eat first or go for the laughs?
Stand Up Live comedy club, scheduled for a VIP-only opening Sept. 12 at 441 S. Fourth St., brings together expertise from several operations into 8,000 square feet.
The club combines a comedy club, a full restaurant and a specialty bar.
“It’s not your average comedy club that sells popcorn and beer,” said managing partner Joel Bachkoff.
Serious comedy club experience
Bachkoff, 37, based in West Palm Beach, Fla., has 11 years in the comedy club business. He owns three comedy clubs in Florida, including the Miami Improv Comedy Club & Dinner Theatre.Bachkoff leads a partnership, Fourth Street Comedy Inc., that includes Brian Dorfman, who owns Zanies Comedy Club in Nashville, Tenn.; Andrew Dorfman, Brian Dorfman’s brother and a former comedian; and Brien Spina, who will oversee the restaurant, Captain Brien’s Seafood.
The group has a combined total of more than 40 years in the entertainment business, Bachkoff said.
