Gary Reinert Sr. has expanded his restaurant holdings with another Columbus-based casual chain.
Reinert’s G&R Acquisitions formally announced today that it has bought Damon’s Grill from Alliance Development Holdings, based in Charlotte. In July, G&R bought the troubled Columbus-based Max & Erma’s chain.Terms were not disclosed.
G&R plans to operate the chains as separate brands, with Damon’s owning or franchising 65 sports-themed restaurants in 15 states, and Max & Erma’s operating 108 restaurants in 13 states. Both restaurant chains are well-represented in the Pittsburgh area.
Reinert will keep both restaurant chains based in Columbus as he seeks cost savings from consolidation.
“As early entries in the casual dining field, both these brands have great heritages and histories,” said Reinert in a prepared statement. “As part of a larger organization, they will benefit from operational and cost efficiencies that will better position them for growth.”
