Created after several meetings started in Toronto in 1988, the World Franchise Council is a world organism for franchise that has been created in Lisbon in June 1984.

Its aim: To encourage the international harmony and collaboration in order to reinforce and promote franchising.
Its objectives:

- To offer to all national associations of franchising “correctly constituted” a speaking space where its opinions and sovereignty will be respected.

- To be the spokesperson of national associations to international organisms

- To encourage the creation of national franchising association “correctly constituted”
