A construction permit has been issued for Newk’s Express Cafe newkscafe.com/ at 110 E. Loop 281.
The permit is for construction valued at $1.1 million for a 10,000-square-foot structure. A.R. Lay of Tyler is the contractor.
The new restaurant will be going up on property next to the former Rex Audio and Appliance, east of Judson Road.
A representative of the contractor said the structure should be completed by July.
Jack Lenhart with Coldwell Banker Lenhart Commercial handled the real estate transaction that paved the way for the new cafe. Scott Zhorne, developer with Premiere Management, sold the tract in his new development, Capital Plaza Center.
The eatery features California thin-style pizza, healthy salads, soups and gourmet sandwiches.“We chose this location because of the proximity to the Longview High School and numerous high-employee businesses and restaurants in the area,” said Newk’s restaurant franchisee and co-owner of AB Dining, John Albriton. The firm also operates a Newk’s in Tyler with Tanner Berryhill as co-owner.
The casual dining bistro-style restaurant features a variety of sandwiches, pizzas, soups and salads.
