Amid the frozen yogurt shop explosion, led by California-based chains expanding to Hawaii, three local entrepreneurs have stepped up with new homegrown brands.
The three are among at least 18 shops that have opened since last summer, mostly on Oahu, that sell self-serve frozen yogurt – “fro yo” – as its main product.
Rather than go the franchising route, these Hawaii business owners say their stand-alone concepts help them to better cater to customer tastes and to maintain a high-quality product.
