After turning itself into one of the world’s largest economy hotel chains in the seven years, Home Inns & Hotels Management of Shanghai is gearing up for a new feat: It wants to become one of the most successful franchisers in this economically booming country, too.

Home Inns, whose shares trade on the Nasdaq, expects to have to 1,000 stores in two years, compared with 550 today, enough to rank it as one of the world’s top-10 hotel chains, according to co-founder and co-chairman Neil Shen. And among the new stores, about 60% are likely to be opened through franchising agreements. More.
