Squirrel Hill Panera To Close

The Panera Bread restaurant on Forbes Avenue in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood will close at the end of August. panerabreadCovelli Enterprises, a franchisee of Panera in the Pittsburgh area, operates locations in Shadyside, Oakland and at the Waterfront in Homestead, said spokeswoman Ashley Mauti. Covelli’s lease at the Squirrel Hill location is up Aug. 31, and the company decided not to renew.

“When we opened the store, we didn’t have the locations in Shadyside and at the Waterfront,” Mauti said. “It was strictly a business decision.”
